Instead she goes about her days pretending everything is okay and normal. Places she can be found is the Smithy, her house, and on some days the lake. Any path between the three is included. And on the twenty second, the full one week marker, she sends a message out to the village.]

[He doesn't say anything to that, just waits, still watching her. He knows he isn't the best at this- at comforting people, at being the kind of friend she needs, at- hell, at listening, but he's going to try.]

I broke up with Haruhi about a week ago.

The relationship hasn't been the same for a while now. It's like we lost our spark, and- well that, and I wanted things out of the relationship that she didn't.

[And... well, he can't say he knows her very well, but from what he's witnessed, from what he remembers - however vaguely, from that experiment - it's that she isn't an idiot. Not really.]

[She sighs, keeping her eyes on the table. Winry isn't sure what to say to Ed about Haruhi. Is even talking to him in the first place a good idea? This is her first time going through a break up like this, and frankly it's strange, scary, and she's uncertain how to handle things to get the best result.]

[He's pretty much useless in this instance, he knows. Actually, pretty much any instance where he's required to give relationship advice would = useless, too. Why does he have to suck at this.]

Winry... you know her better than anybody else here, don't you? What do you think she's gonna do?

I... I don't know. She can stay angry for a pretty long time.

...I didn't say much. [Normally he'd feel a little more sheepish about it, maybe, but with the seriousness of the situation, he isn't going to brave a smile.] Wish there was more I could do.

A-actually, there is... if you don't mind?

[She stands from her seat, hoping he'll do the same.]

[He blinks, pausing a moment before following suit.]

Uh, sure. What is it?

[This may be a bit sudden, but she hugs him. She holds Ed tight, and doesn't want to let go. At least not yet. She's already cried enough, so she won't do it now, but she needs something to squeeze for a moment. For now she just needs a little support.]

[He's surprised at first, but he doesn't let it last; this is what she needs, and shyness or embarrassment should always come second to that. It's serious, and she's upset. And if he can't give her the right words of advice or even support, he can at least give her this.

Hesitantly he lifts his arms to hold her back, and he won't be letting go until she pulls back first. Just this once.]
