No, not again!

[Both people over the journals and near the smithy can hear her yelling. Winry, in her surprise had dropped her journal - and then stepped on it when moving back a little. Over the journal the crunching sounds of metal (yes, metal) can be heard. A large Pokémon is eating the supply metals in the Smithy's closet. It's always a wonder how they get in there, but somehow they do. Winry tries fruitlessly to coax the creature out of the closet, but it doesn't seem to want to pay attention to her.]

Oh, come on! I thought we had agreed you'd at least ask first.
[In which Winry mistakes Giovanni's Aggron for Sapphire's ~~all Pokémon look alike, hush~~. Because her lack of luck she turns to the journal, picking it up.]

Can one of you trainer guys come get this guy out of here? He's ruining everything he touches.

[All she gets is a grumble in response, but he heads over anyway, poking around the smithy shortly afterwards. Geez, what a mess...]

Winry? You still here?

[She's sitting on the couch. The aggron has already been picked up and Giovanni has left. Winry sits up straight.]

Took you long enough. [Okay no she's just pulling his leg.]

[Brat. He heads over, glancing around, hands resting on his hips.]

That thing did a number on this place. Anything important you need fixed?

The door to the supply closet, and a few shelves. Could you do that?

Yeah, sure. [That's him, Mr. Fix-It. He heads over to the closet to survey the damage and make sure there's enough material.] So you managed to get that thing cleared out, huh?

Yeah, its trainer came to pick it up.

Well, good. [He claps his hands, and with a flash of alchemic light, the closet is restored. One job down.] Would've been nice if he'd helped.

He actually offered to do some landscaping at the house as repayment.

Oh... guess that's alright, then. [Unexpected and convenient, go fig. He moves on to work on the battered shelving as well, fiddling with the warped supports.] Anything else to fix?

I'd appreciate it if you put the scraps back into sheets? Just make sure to keep the same types of metals together.

How much did it end up eating? Anything that can't be fixed?

[He heads over to the aforementioned scraps, starting to sort the metals.]

Whole sheets of iron are gone, and Hiccup's axe is totaled.

Oh geez, that's a pain. At least your stock gets resupplied... too bad about the axe, though.

[That's kind of important to vikings, isn't it? He very vaguely recalls this.]

I know, but at least Hiccup said he wasn't using it. Maybe I should make it up to him some how.

Weapons aren't really your thing, though.

[Hmm... could be tricky.]

I could always try to do something else for him. Too bad he's not into automail.

Yeah, I tried talking to him about it, but I think the rehabilitation process scared him off. Can't say I blame him, if he's fine with a normal prosthesis.

You're right. That's why I haven't really pushed it. It's too bad it takes so much.

I can see where he's coming from, to be honest- if I'd only lost a foot, I don't know if I'd have wanted automail when a prosthetic would do the job.

[It's not meant to discount one injury versus another - the loss of a limb is always a big deal - but automail is a big hassle, so the reward has to be worth going the extra mile.]

I know this works for him, but... Another reason why I wouldn't suggest it is because this place is so impermanent. Who knows if anyone will be here the three years it'll take to recover?

Ah, yeah... I guess there's that, too.

[He pauses, seeming like he's about to say something more, then frowns and shakes it off, clapping his hands and transmuting one of the metal piles into smooth, fresh sheets instead.]

Well, as long as he's happy with what he's got. Automail isn't for everybody.

I know that. I just with there was more I could do for him. I don't want to undermine the piece he's using now, but I think I could make him a better one.

Just ask him. Maybe you could work on something together- I think he's just picky about the design because of his dragon.
