I-I know that! [Which makes him feel kind of foolish, of course, so he looks away. In his pocket his fingers toy idly with the chain of his pocket watch.] It's just... weird to think about.

Would you be uncomfortable with yourself if you were? Not completely human, I mean?

[Another pause- because that's one question he's been evading for a long time now, ever since he found out exactly what Hohenheim is.]

...Maybe. I mean, it shouldn't make that much of a difference- homunculus are still human, physically, and I've only ever had one soul, so it's not like it's even noticeable... but... [He glances down at his hands for a moment, closing them into fists.] Aren't they monsters, too?

What makes them monsters is not what they are, but what they do. Ed, you're not a monster. In any sense.

....Yeah. [His voice is quiet, though, as if he's still mulling over the issue. After everything he's gone through, Pinako's assumption was right- his idea of what makes something "human" is so broad it makes it hard to define.

This could take some serious thought.]

Come on. Would a monster let me do this? [She reaches out and pinches his cheek.]

Mmph...! [His eyes widen at that, trying to wriggle free, protesting with a muffled voice.] Hheh, Hwinhee...!

[She lets go, and smiles at him.]

So, you're going to let me live right?

[He gives his cheek a rub, scowling a little, though he's not exactly mad. She's doing a pretty good job of cheering him up.]

I don't know, most people wouldn't get away with doing that to a monster.

Can't make an exception for your childhood friend?

[And then he reaches out and pulls her hair.

H-hey! [Indignantly she grabs some of his bangs in return.]

[Edward's tugging pauses at that, his gaze lifting to her fingers. This could go either way here.]
