This post is for threading with Winry anytime and anywhere. It can be used for Action or the Ring feature on journals to get in contact with her for personal conversations.

[At that time Winry is quietly polishing some automail on the couch. This isn't anything special, just the spare for Ed for when she's repairing things. She's been trying to keep her mind off of "where is Sokka" and "when will he come back?"]

[He quickly sees Winry and approaches. He doesn't want to bother her while she's working, but he thinks at least a quick greeting could be okay. He waves and smiles.]

Hey Winry!

[She pulls her eyes from her work. When Winry looks up at Aang she gives him a smile that fades quickly.]

Hey Aang, what are you here for?

I was just taking a walk around and thought I'd stop in. How are you?

All right, I guess. And you?

I'm fine. Things have just been pretty quiet, lately. [The house has been a lot emptier. Even Roku's gone on a mission.]

Yeah, I know what you mean.

[Even if her house has a family in it doesn't mean it can't be quiet. Every time Sokka is away from the smithy everything feels... empty.]

You do?

[A pause. He's about to continue on, but he hesitates, looks down at the automail and puts on a sheepish grin.]

I don't want to keep bothering you if you're busy.

[She laughs halfheartedly.]

No, no! It's fine. I like it when people visit. [Haruhi used to do it all the time. And despite Hiccup being a permanent part of the smithy now Sokka always leaves a big hole in the atmosphere when he's not around.]

[He smiles back.]

Oh, if you say so! There... is something I wanted to talk to you about.

Yeah, Aang?

Do you remember when we agreed to play lots of jokes on Sokka?

Mm-hmm.

[She lowers her head and continues to polish an arm that obviously doesn't need it. She takes it that jokes will probably be the worst idea. Especially the song. It'll remind him of home.]

[Aang focuses on the floor.]

I... I was kind of wondering, because of... you know, everything that happened recently... if we could think of something for when he comes back. [Whenever that will be.] But something that could be like the opposite of a prank. Something that could cheer him up.

Yeah. We could surprise him with something that might make him smile. Even if it's just a little bit.

Exactly. He really needs to smile again. That's why I wanted to ask you this. Because... sometimes I feel like I don't know him as well as I did back home. [He looks up at her.] And you've known him here a lot longer.

[Winry scoots over, and pats the seat next to him for Aang to sit down.]

Honestly Aang I don't think this will be about who has known him the longest. It's... well about handling the situation delicately. We need to let him know we're here for him, but not try to force ourselves or memories from home on him. I'm not sure how I'd pull that off, so... I think both of us brainstorming will be good.

[He smiles and sits down, leaning forward with his hands on his knees.]

That's a good point, Winry. I guess it just always seemed easier to comfort him back home. [Except for after Yue... which when he thought about it was the only tragedy Sokka had similar to this one.

Aang scrunches his face in thought.] But... yeah, let's see. Ideas that could help him...

Well he does like meat. Maybe we can make him some food for when he gets back? I feel like we would need to do more than that, though.

He does like meat, yeah. But we definitely do need something more personal. Let's see... [He holds up a finger for each item] meat... sarcasm... boomerangs. Those are the basics! [He raises an eyebrow.] A... meat boomerang? What would that even do?

He's also picked up canoe fishing here, and he likes to build things. Maybe I can make him a new tool set by hand?

[He rubs his chin in thought.]

That could work. And maybe you can make them look fancy, and there can be some kind of special fishing hook.

Yeah, that could work. See, we're getting somewhere.

Do you think you could set up a camping trip for him? Maybe you, him, and a few guy friends could camp and fish for a weekend?

[He smiles.]

Winry, you're like a bender of good ideas! That could be fun, and it could remind him of the good friends he has here. [Pause] And you know, thinking about fish... it does give me another idea.
