[When he walks in he'll find a woman in her early 20s rifling through a box of parts. Out of it she pulls a mechanical arm. The plating that hides the wires and inner skeleton is only half there, and a bit tarnished. One wouldn't be far from the truth if they guess it is an old model.
Immediately after Eugene speaks the blonde woman picks her head up to look at him. She pulls her goggles off her face, and lets them hang around her neck.]

Hello, how may I help you?

[There was definitely something really surreal seeing her tug out an arm like that, mechanical or not, and he stared for a second at the metal before realizing he'd been spoken to. Focusing on her, he smiled faintly, both brows raised]

Ah, hi. I'm Eugene, I was told I should look for a Rockbell regarding a prosthesis. Ami and Luke recommended them...

[Surely it couldn't be this lady, she looked to be way too young to be installing body parts. Well-- maybe installing them in training]

[Winry sets the arm back in the box, and stands to greet him.]

That's me, Winry Rockbell. What kind of prosthetic are you interested in?

[Grins a little and looks surprised, but in a pleasant way.]

Ah-- hi. Winry-- Ms. Rockbell. I need a prosthetic for my leg.

[He shifted and gestured toward his left pant leg]

Just above the knee-- ah, if I can get fitted for one. Hiccup mentioned it's more complicated than just being fitted.

If you want automail, yes. It's definitely more complicated. If you sit down on the couch I'll explain the details.

[With a short nod, he gave another look around to see the various... bits and pieces on display as he moved to have a seat.]

Actually it did sound too good to be true, so I'm still shopping around for options.

[Hopefully he wasn't disturbing her if she was busy. Seemed like, by the amount of stuff here, a lot of folks needed help where he thought he was a minority.]

Where'd you learn to make all this?

Automail has been a family business since my great grandfather's generation. There isn't much demand for it here, but I make a lot of prototypes to keep me busy.

You and Janine, I think, would get on pretty well. Just with the whole... good with mechanical stuff... bit.

[Though she wouldn't know Janine. Though it was evident that she was incredibly skilled with her craft despite how young she looked.]

Alright, so what's the details, risks, requirements? Or, rather, how do I make this happen?

All right, so here it is:

Getting automail is an extremely taxing endeavor. During surgery one cannot be put under with anesthetics because that would mess with the procedure. Connecting the limbs is a painful process; one that makes most - if not all - grown men cry. The average recovery rate is three years. I've seen it done in one year, but that was a very special case. Here Hiccup is trying to use healing magic to speed up the recovery time, but he still needs to relearn how to use his limb from scratch. No matter what it is a long ordeal.

[He watched quietly while she explained, liking her no-nonsense attitude toward this. Hands clasped and held between where both his knees would have been he nodded.]

Heh, well I kind of lost it without anaesthetics so I guess... that's... pain is a temporary thing. Crying would be the least of my worries.

[Despite the bravado, it really was something to consider. The injury aside, the resultant complications and amputation had been some of the worst pain he'd ever experienced. Recovering from that had taken a long time as well. Still... to walk again, even if it took a long time to recover...]

I'd be a viable candidate for it?

Just be aware that the surgery may be a process that can take over an hour, or maybe even a few. Not only that one must consider if Automail is worth it in Luceti. Normally three years is nothing to a person who still has over half their life left, but here... Here one can get automail one day and be gone in a month. When I first told Hiccup this he needed a few months to mull it over. I think you should at least give it a day of thinking before you decide, okay?

[To be honest he did feel somewhat disappointed, but it was only him getting ahead of himself despite his best efforts. No one had ever assured him the world was a fair place, however, and Luceti with all its magic and technology was unfortunately included. Forcing a smile-- which was mostly genuine after the fact, he let out a soft breath]

Yeah, these kind of things aren't something you can make a decision on the spot for. I'm sure you get a lot of requests... But you have been highly recommended by a few different people. I'll keep this option in mind.

[Takes a moment more to gather himself, trying not to linger because... while she may not look busy, professionals managed to make the most difficult things look easy. Standing, he offered her another smile before making his way out.]

You can always go with a normal prosthetic if you chose not to use automail. I'm more than willing to build something for you, I just want you to know your options and the consequences of whatever choice you make. Getting automail is a big medical decision to make, and it's not for everyone, even if it is something I personally love working with it.

Yeah, that was originally what I'd set out to look for. Back home they couldn't spare the runners to go and look for one so I never had much of an option.

[But no need to keep her if she's busy and bows his head a little, expression soft. At least she cared about those she worked on, and wasn't overzealous to the point of taking her career a little too far]

[Reaches out after balancing on his crutch, smile bright and honest. Even if she had somewhat dampening news for him, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Better to have benevolent cautions than an eccentric and eager mad scientist.]
