Four. Four birthdays in Luceti. Honestly none of them have ever been very exciting, but maybe it's better that way. Calling attention to age, especially now that she's 20, is a little of a scary thought. Instead she'll act like it's a normal day for most of it. Taking her dog for a walk in the late morning, spending time in the smithy, and even grocery shopping a bit. Eventually sometime in the afternoon, before dinner, she'll ask the village a question:]

A question for everyone: How do you feel about growing older here? Whether you already have or not. Is it scary to think about?
[Families? Relationships? Are they even a good idea? Despite the fact those are things she wants.]

[Aang almost automatically puts a filter up when he finishes hearing the message. Because maybe he already knows his answer and doesn't want Ikki to hear. And some of his other friends in different ways. There's still a thoughtful and hesitant pause before he answers. Thinking about his friends, how long they've been here and any differences he's noticed. How he's just months away from having spent a year here, discounting his brief trip home.]

[Thoughtfully and neutral:] Think I find it more annoying than anything else - even if we aren't really losing time here. At least, that's my understanding of the situation.

Think of it like... what if you ended up spending ten years here?

Yeah? Ever think about what it would be like to be an adult here, Aang?

[Even though technically she already is, she wants to hear his take on it.]

Suki, can I ask what you would do if you spent over five years here?

Sounds pretty depressing to me.

Yes, but I mean what about staying here the whole time? Like growing up and wanting a family?

Over five years? Wow, um, I even don't know. I guess I would just make sure my life here was happy.

Not a lot. I mean... I kind of was, once, during one of those weird experiments, but I don't remember it at all. When I try to think about it... I guess I'm kind of afraid, that I could grow into someone else. And lose who I am.

[Ran Fan has usually been spending time alone off somewhere. Only recently had she been paying attention to the network again and interacting with people.

While out, she heard Winry's voice over the journal and decided to answer.]

Is everything alright, Winry?

[When there's a quiet spell at the smithy, Raven works out cornering Winry without actually backing her into some kind of corner.]

Hey. [It's general, almost friendly. She likes Winry and respects the intense things she can create.]

[There is a surprise waiting for Winry at home when she... gets home. Haruhi may or may not have consulted Elicia or Ed about this, but honestly she just waltzed past Den, broke into Winry's room, and got to work setting up the show in the kitchen. And then a second show a bit off in the other room. Four automail arms are in the kitchen, and there's also a small cake there.

The arms are all crawling around the counter of their own accord, but when Winry gets home -- Haruhi miscalculated the time. She's still trying to get them to do more than crawl, holding her arm out and speaking incantations with a frown]

[Between Winry not seeming particularly thrilled about having a birthday and Haruhi taking over the cake/dinner arrangements, Ed's at a bit of a loss for what to do, himself. Some kind of- boy-and-girl-friend romantic-y... thing? (Because he's so good at that.) Or should he just ignore it? (Because that won't get him into trouble.) Or help Haruhi in making a big deal out of it? (Because the two of them collaborating would go so well.)

He's still mulling it over when she does her entry, so he let that distract him instead.]

...I don't like it. I can't imagine growing up and raising a family in a place where we have so little control over our own lives.

[Even if it's starting to become a reality the longer they stay here.]

I'm not scared! I like growing up, 'cus I'm learning new things!

[Maybe she missed the point of the question--though really, she likes Luceti. Even with the bad things... but maybe that's just her getting so used to the way everything is here.]

[Okay, so Sokka was hoping to do a bigger surprise when Winry came to the smithy today. But well. Raven wasn't exactly someone you could get in a party hat. Neither was Hiccup really, but he was on the mend still. So it was mostly just Sokka. But even so, when she came in, Sokka was ready.]

Happy birthday!

[He pulled out a party horn to give it a blow. It didn't make a sound, but it did uncoil at least.]

[Winry stares for a moment. This... isn't something she was expecting. Her eyes fall on the defective party horn as is recoils back to Sokka's face. It's quiet for a moment before she starts laughing.]

You remembered?

Oh yeah? And what have you learned in school lately?

And what happens when we're here at our thirties?

[Action]

[Sokka blew it a second time for a similar result. He plucked it from his lips, gave it a condemning look, then tossed it aside. He brightened up again.]

Of course. It's a very easy date to remember. It was my second day in Luceti. Of course, I've also got it in my yearly planner.

[Sokka lovingly patted the egregiously large notebook resting on the counter.]

[Suddenly there's a crash as the bad Winry was holding falls to the ground. A few groceries spill out, and the bag is not ripped. Her face contorts in a mix of anger, confusion, disgust and surprise.]

Haruhi, what are you doing with my automail!?
